We all know Joe Biden, our 46th president. Recently, he has issued not 1, not 10, not even 20, but 39 presidential pardons across the U.S. Two of which belong to his own son, and 37 other non-violent criminal actions/crimes. Further, he has issued a whopping 1,500 commuted sentences. We all heard the controversy with Hunter Biden, he did not pay AT LEAST $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes, which is a federal offense, and after he received his first pardon from his father, he committed 2 other felony tax offenses, and 6 misdemeanor tax offenses. Still, 1,500 commuted sentences, a quote pulled from an interview from Al Jazeera, “I am also commuting the sentences of nearly 1,500 people who are serving long prison sentences – many of whom would receive lower sentences if charged under today’s laws, policies, and practices,” he said.” Yeah, I hope this changes when Trump moves into the White House on January 20th, 2025.
Back up to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, 1,500 people are currently being put on home confinement. A quote taken from CNN Politics states “The nearly 1,500 individuals whose long sentences are being commuted Thursday were placed on home confinement during the Covid-19 pandemic, and were deemed to have demonstrated a clear commitment to rehabilitation and reintegration into their communities, sources said. The 39 people being pardoned were convicted of non-violent crimes, and considered to have demonstrated records of meaningfully giving back to the country.” Biden claims to be a merciful person, he claims that this is for the greater good, but is it really, is this really what we think peace is like?
He claims that all these people are worthy of release, they were children before, they cared for their children, and they advanced their education. If he claims to be a merciful president, why is he releasing inmates on federal death row, why would he release them, who knows what else they could or would do? He has pardoned military veterans of having gay sex, which was formally breaking the military code, he has also pardoned marijuana addicts who were addicted and sellers. He is expected to have further relief in the six weeks left of his presidential term, but do we really believe this?
