This April is this schools wellness month. Winthrop High School has created a calendar for a task to do every day on the month of April. Wellness is the act of practising healthy and positive habits. Wellness can be anything, from trying something new, or eating breakfast. This months focus is to help build and create these healthy habits for people.
For many people, this things on the calendar might seem simple. The purpose of the calendar isn’t too be hard though. The purpose is too help build the habits and get people out of their comfort zone. Mrs. Leslie says that “The calendar gives students daily suggestions on wellness related challenges”.
The calendar is a great way to start, but it’s recommended people carry on with many of the activities on the calendar even past April. Ms. Leslie wishes to remind people that “every moment or hardship is temporary and if you can shift your mindset, you will slowly start to feel better holistically”. People can revisit the calendar for suggestions, or create their own, but it’s important that everyone finds a way to stay on track. For a suggestion, many people find meditation to be a useful way to practise wellness. I personally think that meditation is a great way to practise wellness as it allows people to build attention span and emotional awareness. I talk more about the benefits in my article, “Meditation and it’s benefits”.
Next week is also spirit week, during spirit week people will dress up based on what day it is. More information about that will likely be given this following weekend.
We hope to see everyone going to the wellness fair later today!
