As a fan of Victorian lit, watching Bridget Jones was definitely an unexpected twist on Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice. These films are based on the book series by Helen Fielding’s of the same name; that same series is loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel.
As a fan of the original film starring Keira Knightley, it was definitely worthwhile watching the parallels between the two movies as well as watch Bridget Jones use Jane Austen’s humor and wit into their comedic and lovable franchise.
Bridget Jones fourth installment, entitled “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy”, will be premiering on Peacock Valentines Day, 2025.
The film features actors Renée Zellweger, returning as beloved protagonist Bridget Jones, as well as Hugh Grant, playing Jones’ boss Daniel Cleaver, Emma Thompson, reprising her role as Jones’ doctor in “Bridget Jones’ Baby”. The film will also feature new actors such as Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall.
