The Housemaid by Freida McFadden tells the story of a girl named Millie who has just exited prison and is on the job hunt. The reader won’t know why she was in jail until the end of the book. However, she gets a job being a live-in housemaid for the Winchesters, who are extremely rich. The couple’s names are Nina and Andrew, and they have a daughter named Cecelia, whom Millie must take care of. Their picture-perfect life just seems a bit off, as Millie notices there is a room that only locks from the outside in the attic. She tries to ignore those little things, since Millie was very desperate for a job after being locked up for ten years. Throughout her stay as a live-in nanny, the wife, Nina, makes her job even more difficult. Eventually, Millie learns more information about the Winchesters, and everything begins to unravel with crazy twists and turns.
I recommend this book to everybody! If you want to get into reading thrillers, I would take a look at The Housemaid. My favorite aspect of this book was Part II, which revealed everything that happened in the first half that went unnoticed. I just remember how shocked I was that I began to scream. I started pacing around my room because of this insane plot twist. The Housemaid was a five-star read, and now I plan to read more since it is a trilogy. The two other books are The Housemaid’s Secret and The Housemaid is Watching.

The American psychological thriller is directed by Paul Feig and written by Rebecca Sonnenshine. The news of the book being in production was announced in October 2024 on Deadline Hollywood. This was hilarious, and fans worldwide have commented on their excitement about the movie.
