Priscilla: The Movie

Trailer released by A24

Today, a new A24 movie is coming to theaters. Priscilla, the film, has already premiered and been viewed in select theaters but is expected to be officially released on November 3rd. Directed by Sofia Coppola, the film showcases Priscilla Presley’s life based on her published memoir in 1985.

Priscilla, played by Cailee Spaeny, meets Elvis, played by Jacob Elordi, in Germany. The film then goes on to show the journey of their relationship. The movie highlights the hidden aspects of their relationship, shining light on Priscilla and her side of the story. Most films about the two focused primarily on Elvis, so Coppola’s bringing attention to Priscilla’s life is undoubtedly new. Just less than a year ago, Warner Bros. published a movie all about Elvis. Watching the story from Priscilla’s point of view will likely change the way some people think or feel about Elvis. Coppola aims to immerse the viewer in the world Priscilla lived in, giving it a 60’s Americana feel. It highlights the struggles and isolation Priscilla feels while also making the movie reminiscent of youth and girlhood.

Priscilla herself has approved the film. She has praised the movie, saying that Sofia has done an amazing job. This praise has only created more anticipation for the movie. The trailer has also brought much attention to the film. This is an exciting new movie, so get a ticket soon if the film interests you!
