After 65 years this holiday classic single “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee has finally made No. 1 on Billboard Top 100. Brenda was only 13 years old when she first recorded the song back in 1958 and it has made many notable appearances, especially in the 1990 movie “Home Alone”. This song is known by fans worldwide and has gained much popularity over the years. It is officially the most popular song in the U.S. more than half a century after it was first released. In recent years, the song has been given a boost in streams which sent it No. 2 on Billboard’s Top 100. Mariah Carey’s song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” had hit No. 1 each holiday for the past four years until now.

In 2023, at the age of 79, she made a new music video for the song and is now beating Mariah Carey to the top of the chart this week only by a couple of million streams. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” has made history as the oldest song ever to hit the No. 1 spot. Lee has also joined TikTok where she posts snippets of the music video and stories of the song’s history. One of the most viral videos on her account was when she received the news that her song is 5 times platinum. The news brought her to tears in which she stated, “I’m very grateful! I didn’t do it by myself. The people were a very big part of that…the disc jockeys…but I was lucky.”
